Meet Laura Heatherly
Originally from Dallas, Texas, I am a realist painter who draws inspiration from the beautiful surroundings that fill my life. My passion for painting began at a young age and since that time I have honed my craft in oils by studying the environment, including nature, colorful landscapes, different cultures and the themes that represent my fabulous travels to foreign lands.
I find inspiration in life’s surroundings – whether it be a street scene filled with bustling shops with interesting window reflections to unique cloud formations or fields of flowers. My original oil paintings represent my unique perspective on life and culture.
In my early years, I was inspired by family members who had the artistic touch such as my great aunt, Alice Kingham Luchevre (Paris, France) and my grandfather, Robert Hugh Squair (Erlanger, Kentucky). I had the pleasure of studying with talented artists such as Larry Gluck (Los Angeles); Lew Gordon (Nashville); Joy Garner (Nashville), Staci Garner Spivak (Nashville) and Jill Steenhus Ruffato (Aix en Provence, France).
“To me, painting creates inner peace, gives me a sense of purpose and is great fun especially when I have the opportunity to paint with others and share a bottle of wine.”
– Laura Heatherly
Painting gives me an opportunity to spread love and joy on a canvas. It is one of the most inspirational and healing activities that feeds the soul.
